Warsaw has emerged as a major tech and innovation hub in Central Europe. With a large pool of skilled software engineers and rapid growth, Warsaw offers tremendous opportunities for tech companies seeking talent.

I recently analysed Warsaw’s tech talent landscape, examining key stats on the city’s tech workforce’s size, composition, skills, employers, and trends. Here are some of my key findings:

Over 30,000 Software Professionals Across Diverse Roles

Warsaw has over 30,000 professionals working in 42 different software engineering roles, including:

  • Frontend Engineers
  • Backend Developers
  • Full Stack Engineers
  • DevOps Engineers
  • Data Engineers
  • Mobile Developers
  • QA Engineers
  • Product Managers

This level of role diversity provides companies with ample options for building strong product and engineering teams.

Rapid Growth Fueling Talent Pool Expansion

Warsaw’s tech talent pool saw rapid expansion in 2022, with key metrics showing:

  • 603 new software engineering profiles added on LinkedIn in the past 12 months
  • 5,804 engineers changed jobs in the past year
  • 1,281 open tech roles in Warsaw currently
  • 5,900 engineers open to new opportunities

This growth signals a hot market where companies can attract new talent. The high job movement also creates openings at companies seeking experienced hires.

Gender Diversity Needs Improvement

While Warsaw’s tech talent pool is large, it skews heavily male. Key gender stats:

  • 84% male
  • 16% female

Employers, universities, and policymakers should prioritize boosting participation by women software professionals. Other tech hubs have demonstrated how diversity strengthens innovation.

The top software engineering skills in highest demand in Warsaw are:

  2. Java
  3. Python
  4. React.js
  5. C#

Companies should also look for talent with up-and-coming skills like TypeScript, GraphQL, and Kubernetes to support new initiatives.

Google, EPAM, and Samsung Top Tech Employers

The companies with the most significant tech talent pools in Warsaw are:

  • Google – 504 engineers
  • EPAM Systems – 444
  • Samsung Electronics – 443
  • Allegro – 190
  • Innowise Group – 153

However, exciting growth companies like eBay, Johnson & Johnson, and Nestlé are also rapidly expanding their Warsaw tech teams.
