Data Science and AI Development in Poland
Poland has emerged as a global hub for artificial intelligence and data science. The country’s reputation for mathematical excellence and computer science talent has made it the first choice for international firms building advanced AI products. With the rapid expansion of Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative technologies, the Polish market is currently seeing unprecedented demand for specialised engineering talent.
The Growth of LLM Engineering
The role of the LLM Engineer is the most sought-after profile in the 2026 Polish tech market. These professionals specialise in fine-tuning open-source models, implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, and optimising model inference. Because this is a relatively new field, the talent pool is small, and salaries have risen faster than in any other IT sector.
Warsaw and Kraków AI Hubs
Warsaw is the primary destination for AI commercialisation. It attracts the largest share of venture capital and is home to the most AI-focused product companies in the region. Kraków continues to lead in pure engineering and research. Many of the most advanced AI platforms used globally have their core engineering teams based in Kraków.
Data Science and AI Salary Benchmarks 2026
The following figures represent the monthly net invoice amounts for B2B contracts in 2026. These rates reflect the significant premium currently paid for Generative AI and LLM expertise.
| Role | Junior B2B | Mid B2B | Senior B2B |
|---|---|---|---|
| LLM / GenAI Engineer | 20,000 to 26,000 PLN | 28,000 to 38,000 PLN | 40,000 to 52,000 PLN |
| ML Engineer | 18,000 to 24,000 PLN | 26,000 to 35,000 PLN | 36,000 to 48,000 PLN |
| Data Scientist | 16,000 to 22,000 PLN | 24,000 to 32,000 PLN | 34,000 to 44,000 PLN |
| Data Engineer | 17,000 to 23,000 PLN | 25,000 to 34,000 PLN | 35,000 to 45,000 PLN |
Contract Preferences B2B vs UoP
AI professionals in Poland have a strong preference for B2B contracts. At the salary levels seen in the AI and Data Science sector, the tax burden on a standard employment contract (UoP) is substantial. For a firm based in London or New York, the total cost of a UoP contract for a Senior ML Engineer can be up to 40% higher than a B2B arrangement.
New Regulatory Hurdles in 2026
The National Labour Inspectorate (PIP) has increased its focus on the IT sector. As of January 2026, there are stricter checks on the nature of B2B relationships. If an AI engineer is working in a way that suggests they are a de facto employee, the contract is at risk of being reclassified. Mismanaging these contracts can lead to large penalties and fines.
How We Fix the Compliance Problem
We act as the link for our clients. We do more than find the talent; we manage the entire operational side of the relationship. This includes compliant B2B management, local payroll, and HR support. By providing these services, we let our clients focus on their product while we deal with the local paperwork.
Need a Cost Comparison?
If you are looking to benchmark your current development costs against the Polish market, we can provide a detailed comparison tailored to your specific team requirements.
