Cyber Security in Poland: A Peek into an Enigmatic Domain

July 24, 2023

Our digital footprint is expanding by leaps and bounds, and cyber security draws considerable attention. It is an elusive world that seems constantly on everyone’s lips. To some extent, it’s like the popular kid in school; everyone claims to be part of their circle, fuelled by an irresistible wave of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). But what exactly are we so scared of missing out on?

As per the definition by itgovernance.com, cyber security refers to “the application of technologies, processes, and controls to protect systems, networks, programs, devices, and data from cyber-attacks”. Yet, I view Cyber Security as a mismatched collective of titles, skills, and responsibilities. It often acts as a sales pitch laden with an element of FOMO, designed to make you feel that it’s something you can’t do without.

The LinkedIn and Ntiative Data

With this perception in mind, I embarked on a mission to uncover the various job titles associated with this field. And where better to look than a platform where real-world professional activities take centre stage – LinkedIn?

Through this endeavour, I stumbled upon as many as 32 unique job titles relating to cyber security. These encompassed areas from networking and information security to penetration testing and vulnerability assessment. However, I deliberately left out Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) roles as these are more prevalent in the finance sector and would lead us down a rabbit hole.
