About the Role

You will work with a team responsible for the core customer food experience at scale. The project focuses on backend-driven, AI-powered systems that empower customers to seamlessly manage their meal selections, carts, and food profiles. Your work will directly impact how millions of users personalize their culinary journeys, from managing dietary preferences and allergens to defining their protein choices.

This role requires a true product engineer mindset. You won’t just be executing tickets; you will collaborate deeply with Product Owners and Designers to define requirements, shape the roadmap, and take complete process ownership.

Initially, your focus will be two-fold: driving the global expansion of our food profile feature to new international markets, and pioneering the transition of this feature from an explicit system (manually inputted data) to an implicit, AI-driven system that intelligently learns and predicts defaults based on user behavior, ordering history, and ratings.

Responsibilities

• Feature Ownership: Design, develop, and scale backend systems that allow customers to update their meal selections, carts, exclusions, allergens, and core food profiles.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with downstream stakeholders, specifically the Growth Funnel team (to optimize sign-up data) and the Personalization team (to leverage user profile data for smart defaults).

• Global Expansion: Architect and execute the rollout of the food profile feature from its current limited markets to a global scale.

• Next-Gen Personalization: Transition the food profile engine from an explicit input system to an implicit learning system driven by user behavior, order history, and ratings.

• Product Engineering: Actively participate in the product discovery phase, collaborating with product managers and designers to challenge assumptions and co-create technical requirements.

• AI Integration & Productivity: Maximize engineering velocity by deeply embedding modern AI tools across the entire software development lifecycle—including planning, architecture, coding, testing, and bug fixing.

Requirements

• Senior Backend Expertise: 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with a strong foundation in microservices and backend architecting.

• Go (Golang) Mastery: Production experience with Go, or a strong fluency and absolute willingness to work entirely in a Go-driven ecosystem (everything in this domain is written in Go).

• AI Fluency: Active, advanced usage of AI tools in your daily workflows. We are looking for engineers who leverage AI not just for code completion, but strategically across planning, testing, bug fixing, and system design.

• Product-First Mindset: Strong fluency in product development, a sense of end-to-end process ownership, and a track record of collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.

• Architecture Skills: Proven experience building high-throughput, scalable, and reliable microservices architectures.

Nice to Haves

• Frontend (FE) Experience: Basic familiarity or full-stack exposure to help bridge the gap with frontend teams during feature integration.
